CUFA is proud to announce the 2010 Pacific Credit Union Technical Congress,
which will be held for the first time in Port Moresby, PNG from 13 September – 16
September 2010. The Congress will be a collaboration between the Credit Union
Foundation Australia, the Federation of Savings and Loans and Societies of
PNG and the World Council of Credit Unions.
Last year the congress brought together credit union movements, their leagues,
federations and government regulators from developing and developed nations
in the Pacific region to share information and learn from each other. Attendees
will include credit union professionals from Australia, Fiji, Kiribati, Papua
New Guinea, Cook Islands, Tonga, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, the United
States and Vanuatu.
While exploring the unique challenges of the Pacific credit union movement,
participants will also benefit from a return to the basics of cooperative
and financial principles. It is an important platform to provide emerging
credit
union movements a forum to acquire the necessary skills to efficiently serve
the needs of their members.
Last year the Congress registrations filled quickly. In addition there is a
Managers Certification Program, which forms part of an intensive two-year course
for credit union managers and aspiring managers.
The agenda can beaccessed hereand includes:
- Advocacy Strategies
- The Oceanic Confederation of Credit Union Leagues-the
way forward
- Savings Mobilisation
- Marketing and Promotion
Given the size of the Congress venue, places will be strictly limited so participants
are encouraged to register as soon as possible to secure their place.
