Our activities bring a range of benefits

Following are the issues and our activities that involve Women.

Women in most societies face inequality and lack of opportunity to improve life for themselves and family.

Cambodia, Timor Leste and the Solomon Islands have strong traditions of granting women a lower status then men, especially women in rural villages.

In general women have fewer resources, decreased access to healthcare, education, work etc. Access to leadership roles is limited by culture, and also due to poor literacy skills and access to training.

So it is important to support women that they get the chance to earn their own income and also to strengthen women in an independent position and in leadership role. To achieve this goal sustainable education and guidance is an important tool. All projects build up on non-discrimination on the grounds of gender. In all our projects should be an equal amount of women to participate. The benefit is a greater access to financial services for women and to promote the economic empowerment of women in the financial sector.

Project 1 Building Institutional Capacity Cambodia
In this project women should be shown the opportunities to earn an independent income outside the agricultural sector. The target of the project is to integrate women into credit unions leadership positions. An aim is to achieve 50% credit union committee members to be women.

Project 2 Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening Solomon Islands
On the Solomon Island the position of women is not influential and most of the owners of lands are men, who are often absent for long periods in search of work and income. The main aim is to increase women's access to micro loans, so women should become the chance to earn their own independent income.

Project 3 Building Institutional Capacity Timor Leste
Only 52% of rural women were enrolled in lower secondary school, so they have a lack of skills to be represented in leadership roles. The strategy is to build community trust and creating a network with women's NGOs. The benefit of this project is promoting the economic empowerment of women in the financial sector.

Project 4 The Children’s Financial Literacy Program Cambodia
The traditional norms and the higher status for men start in the school. In our Program is the equal participation of girls and boys very important. This should give the girls the equal chance of access to financial services and economics participation in their future.

Project 29 The Building Trust Program Cambodia
Women are an important part of credit union development, yet their access to leadership roles is limited due to poor literacy skills. This project supports the integration of women into credit unions leadership positions. Women should get the opportunities to earn an independent income. 50% of the building committee must be women.
