CUFA Cambodian Leadership Challenge July 2009

Why a Challenge Program?

The Cambodian Leadership Challenge is part of the CUFA Challenge Program series.
The CUFA Challenge programs are an exciting range of activities designed to take people out of their comfort zones. They offer a unique insight into a country's culture allowing for an intimate connection with communities and their credit union movement.

As leadership, self development and team-building programs, the CUFA Challenge series are second to none as they bring people together during an interdependent, testing and rewarding journey, whilst providing participants with an enjoyable, inspirational and unforgettable learning experience.

What are the challenges?

There are 4 main challenge components in the Cambodian Leadership Challenge;

1. Fundraising Challenge

Participants must fundraise a minimum of $3,000 each before commencing the trip to Cambodia. The fundraising element empowers people to get involved and become effective ambassadors for mutuals and cooperatives.
100% of monies raised will be used for the Children’s Financial Literacy Program in Cambodia.

2. Physical Challenge

Participants must train for and complete a 4 day cycling challenge, from Siem Reap to Battambang. This challenge component will test people’s mental and physical strength and is a superb opportunity for developing mental strength, teamwork, and of course improve physical health and fitness.

3. Cultural, Emotional, Intellectual Challenge

Participants gain first-hand experience of being in Cambodian, learning about the emerging savings banks movement and engaging in activities and situations that are culturally and emotionally beyond the norms and comfort zones of a conventional western lifestyle.
The Cambodian Leadership Challenge offers excellent exposure to different culture, beliefs, traditions and ideas.

4. Community Service

After returning from Cambodia, participants are required to complete 100 hours of community service. CUFA encourages ongoing community engagement through volunteering within your community. It is also hoped that participants are willing and able to continue their relationship with CUFA’s projects in Cambodia.
